Simple Past Tense  

Simple Past Tense menjelaskan peristiwa yang telah terjadi, di suatu masa lampau. Karena itu seringkali disebut 'fact about the past' atau fakta yang terjadi di masa lampau. Kalimat ini menggunakan kata kerja kedua (Verb 2/V2) atau bentuk past dari To Be (Was, Were). Sebagai contoh (perhatikan kata miring):

1. Indonesia hosted the 18th Asian Games.

2. Timor Leste was part of Indonesia.  

Simple Future Tense  

Sedangkan untuk menyampaikan 'fact about the future' atau peristiwa yang belum terjadi/akan terjadi di masa depan, bentuk kalimat yang digunakan adalah Simple Future Tense. Kalimat ini ditandai dengan penggunaan 'Will + V1/Will + be + Noun/Adjective/Adverb'. Sebagai contoh (perhatikan kata miring):

1. Indonesian will vote for president and legislative member in April 2019.

2. Indonesia will be the 4th largest economy in the world by 2050.
